Like second hand smoking

By-standing and watching over

Not saying a thing

Yet feeling every emotion

Living and breathing the air 

Yet somehow still in vacuum

On pause but 

Still on fire 

Not knowing whether to intervene or 

Just

Say nothing 

When Watching someone else get bullied 

Or abused 

Has an affect on you 

But

Do you then bully and abuse

Or just 

Stand-by

Ready to operate when someone triggers you

When someone pushes your button

Then they stand by-

Standing

Judging 

And blaming you

For acting out

But they don’t know

How many buttons it took

How much frustration 

They took out on the remote control

For you to finally switch on

Do you offer to help

Or just 

Stay politically correct 

Because both parties are right

But both wrong at the same time

Choose what you say wisely they say

Choose the right party they say

Which party is worth voting for

When

Both cause destruction

The lesser of two evils they say

Or just don’t bother to vote in the first place

Do you leave and

Run away

Or block it out

Do you stay and remain 

Or scream aloud 

And say 

Stop.

But people never actually stop at stop signs 

Do they?

There’s a slight pause just before you move on

A slight hesitation

Looking out for danger

Then

Taking the plunge into it

The stop only happens for a moment

For a split second

Then carries on

You can scream stop

From the top of your blackened lungs

As many times as you like

But will they

Smoking kills but 

People smoke anyway.
