COMPASS & LEAD is exactly in the name. To be taken metaphorically/figuratively as well as literally. Whilst Geometry requires you to use a compass and a pencil to create patterns, Allah is also the one who, by His mercy, guides us onto a straight path.
This website aims to make it easy for the budding beginner wishing to delve into the realm that is Islamic Geometry, and give an insight to those who are eager (like I was) to start, but didn’t know how. Nevertheless, I didn’t want to use this platform to focus purely on geometry because, in the end, we all have a bigger purpose in life. Our reason for being is far greater than the beauty and intricacy in our creation. Hence, here you will also find regular articles in my blog being uploaded every Thursday, addressing a variety of relevant issues and topics, as well as offering advice from a practical and Islamic perspective.
EVERYONE is welcome here - from the non-muslim, to the one who wants to ‘get on the deen’ to the one who thinks they’re ahead of the game. No one is better than another, and as the hadith (saying) of the beloved prophet goes.. we must love for our brother what we love for ourselves.

Nadia. Muslim before all things. Graduate of Arabic and Linguistics. The Arabic language is something I’m still attempting to master, and I started my ventures into in Islamic geomentry in November of 2018. Islamic Geometry and architecture has always been a part of me growing up. I think it all started with My grandmother’s house placing such precedent in my life. Every Carved corner being filled with the memory of times both happy and sad. With all the negativity that exists in the world, I strongly believe that hope can still be restored in the wounded hearts of our generation. Every day is a new opportunity to do something good, and with every person we meet there is opportunity to learn something new.
Islamic Geometry is something I’ve always loved, and very recently delved into. Not only is it filled with logical and mathematical precision but is balanced by beauty, intricacy and detail. Furthermore, I find it beautiful how Everything geometrical, derives from a simple element - the circle.
